Site Reliability Engineer

Job description

Payconiq is shaping the future of payment by creating a modular, API based technology platform that can seamlessly integrate within the European payment ecosystem. Our 110-person team of over 40 different nationalities is rapidly expanding as we set out to become a trusted lead in smart processing and payment solutions across Europe.

Transparency, collaboration, ownership, adaptability to change, and achieving excellence. That's how we roll at Payconiq. We make sure we're ever-evolving: always raising the bar higher than it was yesterday!

To help us achieve our ambitious goals we are now looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to join our international team of open-minded, ambitious and fun colleagues. Do you like what we do and what we stand for? Do you want to grow with us and add real value? Join us today!

Being a Site Reliability Engineer at Payconiq means you play a key role within our infrastructure team. Within this team you will be responsible for building secure, scalable, reusable infrastructure architecture. You will work on creating effective high-quality cloud based secure solutions to prevent our systems from failing and you will set up clear monitoring mechanisms for the times it does. To do so you’ll be working with Docker, Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, Terraform and Python.

Throughout your work you’ll remain self-critical, use a sound rationale and follow our existing procedures. On occasion some creativity may be needed too though. On a day-to-day basis you will spend a lot of time coding and building infrastructure process automations. You’re constantly on the lookout to find solutions to further improve our infrastructure and prevent future outages. Throughout your day you will work very closely with the team of Site Reliability Engineers and effectively communicate with them when needed.

Next to this you will go on-call for one week every month for which you will of course be compensated!

Requirements

As a Site Reliability Engineer you’re able to bring:

  • A self-starter mentality, being able to take the lead on new infrastructure projects and proactively detect and resolve existing infrastructural issues.
  • A desire to automate as much of your work as possible.
  • An analytical mindset with an intrinsic sense of curiosity; being able to see the bigger picture and wanting to understand how things are working at all levels of the system.
  • A high sense of responsibility for our infrastructure and the ability to be a reliable force within the team.
  • Good communication skills; high proficiency in English and the ability to clearly and concretely express yourself.
  • Your honesty opinion and an ability to provide constructive feedback to others.
  • Positivity attitude; always looking for ways to create a welcoming environment for colleagues and never shy to take action where needed.
  • A critical view; always looking for ways to further improve your own and our teams efforts.
  • A desire to share knowledge and the ability to act as a mentor to others.

In addition, you’re able to bring the following technical expertise:

  • 3-5 years of experience in setting up infrastructure projects using tools such as Docker, Amazon Web Services, Kubernetes, Terraform and Python.
  • Extensive knowledge of cloud security and best practices in the industry (e.g. knowledge of the principle of least privilege, Kubernetes cluster security and web application firewalls).
  • Very good understanding of REST API principles and internal structure.
  • Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD systems.
  • Strong coding skills, preferably Python or Go.
  • Efficient working in a Scrum team and collaboration with the other teams across Payconiq.
  • Experience in the financial/payments domain (considered as an advantage).
  • Knowledge of security certifications (considered as an advantage).
